You may ask yourself whether your situation as a couple can be easily managed by all Assisted Reproduction or ART centers to obtain maximum results with the lowest costs.

It is true that the ICSI or IVF technique is similar in all centers but it is also true that the centers decide the protocols to be implemented based on many factors: type of population that arrives on average, resources and staff available, foreseeable expenses, general organization especially within large clinics which perhaps have many types of departments.

All this does not mean that these are centers of lesser quality but only that they decide their protocols based on the aforementioned characteristics.

Generally, all these factors lead to deciding the most suitable protocols for the majority of the population based on their characteristics: age, ovarian reserve, causes of infertility, previous failures, etc.

In the cases of the average population, the customization required is therefore quite limited.

However, in the most difficult cases which fall outside this population, a higher and sometimes truly extreme customization may be necessary (special preparations before stimulation, special protocols and monitoring, weekend pick-ups, special laboratory procedures that go beyond the routine, personalized post-transfer checks).

The protocols often include egg donation in very difficult cases.

However, global statistics demonstrate how in these difficult cases the results can be even 2 or 3 times better if extreme personalization is implemented: for example very reduced ovarian reserve, severe endometriosis and adenomyosis, numerous previous failures and poor oocyte quality.

In practice, a problem for couples who begin the PMA process is the unawareness of being in a group that requires extreme personalization.

This unawareness, if not addressed with the right protocols, can lead to numerous failures, frustration, stress, tiredness and significant costs.

Finally, this situation can have a significant impact on the ability to get back into the game after a time that is sometimes too long and which makes the case even more difficult especially when the age is already advanced or becomes so after numerous failed attempts.

Useful elements to understand if a center is personalized enough is to check how different the protocols are in the various couples or if pick ups are carried out at the weekend.

Therefore starting the PMA process in a center that can immediately personalize it to the maximum would obviously give greater guarantees of better and quicker results with lower costs and effort.

In other words, this awareness would a priori give the couple the serenity of having done everything possible for their condition, whatever it may initially be.
